Valuing and evaluating musical practice as research in ethnomusicology and its implications for research assessment

چکیده
In this article, we argue that ethnomusicology holds valuable epistemic insights for considering how to measure and evaluate research academics, as well policy management professionals. We focus on two notable instances of standardised national assessment frameworks: the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF), in Australia (ERA) identify advantages practice models music by benefits ethnomusicology’s reflexive relativist methodologies formal processes. To support our argument, refer published case studies ethnomusicological reach beyond Western thought highlight recognising a more inclusive modality original knowledge production. call upon ethnomusicologists pro-actively engage with processes make them equitable representative discipline’s broad commitment decolonising academic practice.
